The duet “mit plumper Eleganz” (“with awkward elegance”) is inspired by Camus’ philosophical essay The Myth of Sisyphus and reflects the absurdity of our existence in an ironic and poetic way. The dance, based on everyday movements, is a kind of homage to the contradictions and versatility of the human being. Throughout, it makes use of various forms of paradox. It is a journey through human existence that unites the complex and the mundane, the tragic and the comic, the beautiful and the ugly within a single dance, thereby resisting any form of ideology.
